Xiaomi posted a teaser last week on it's Weibo account, gives us a hint of what to expect from the Redmi 3 and the start date. After many teasers, rumors and speculation, Xiaomi finally revealed the Redmi 3 today in China. The device was officially launched, confirming most of our speculations. The unit does not differ from the leaked images we've seen before look.
Unlike it's predecessor that has a plastic build, Xiaomi Redmi 3 comes with a 4100mAh battery. Also, while Xiaomi Redmi 2 has a 4.7-inch screen, the new Redmi 3 comes with a 5-inch screen and 720p HD resolution. Redmi devices in the product line are budget phones and despite Redmi 3's premium look, the price is still very much in the low budget area.
Regarding the specifications, it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 chipset. It is an octa-core processor with two quad-core clusters. The first cluster with four cores clocked at 1.5 GHz, while the other, also with four cores clocked at 1.2 GHz. The device comes with a 2GB RAM.
As with most devices from the company, Xiaomi Redmi 3 is a dual SIM phone with 4G capabilities. There's a 16GB internal storage, while the hybrid SIM tray, you can use the second SIM slot to expand the memory up to 128 GB with a microSD card.
Xiaomi Redmi 3 has a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture. The camera supports 1080p FHD video, panorama mode, HDR mode and more. There is also a 5MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture.
The device runs MIUI 7, but we can not yet determine whether the Android lollipop based or Marshmallow.
Xiaomi Redmi 3 is only available in China now for about $105 dollars, but it is certain that it is going to be available worldwide soon. Redmi 2 is still available on Jumia for ₦25,000 and you can watch the shop to know when Redmi 3 will be available in Nigeria.
